The pandemic experience has shown us how essential scientific research is to respond swiftly to global health crises. Today, with the continued emergence of new infectious diseases, preparedness — the ability to prevent, detect, and respond quickly — has become a strategic priority for Europe and Italy alike.

The December 12th event aims to foster collaboration among research institutions, biotech industries, and public authorities to strengthen our collective ability to respond to epidemic and pandemic threats with effective and innovative solutions.

Investing in advanced scientific infrastructures, such as high-biosafety laboratories and biotechnological platforms, is not only a preventive measure but also a cornerstone of public health and national security.

The Lazio Region plays a leading role, with outstanding centers of biomedical and biotechnological excellence such as the Spallanzani Institute, the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital, the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), and the Gemelli University Hospital IRCCS. Together with a vibrant biotech ecosystem these institutions represent a model of scientific collaboration and innovation.
